Add a Scala kernel - Domino

By default the Domino Standard Environment includes kernels for Python and Julia. However, you can add kernels to your Environment in just a few steps. In this topic, you learn how to add a Scala kernel to your Environment.

Install dependencies

# Install scala (requires java to already be installed)

# Install scala kernel (almond)
RUN sudo curl -Lo coursier https://git.io/coursier-cli &&
    sudo chmod +x coursier &&
    ./coursier launch --fork almond:0.10.9 --scala 2.12 -- --install &&
    sudo rm -f coursier

After adding these commands to your Environment Dockerfile you can start Scala notebooks and run Scala commands directly from the JupyterLab console.
